Armour plate was created by Lambert
Hi all. I know I usually shy away from bolted on guards and such for various reasons including it being a mud trap and also reducing available clearance etc, which I do stand by however I have very nearly ripped my transfer box wires out on a twig. I didn't see the rest of it as I touched the end with a tyre and it twisted up into the prop and made a really alarming noise. Anyway. The plate from Jimny bits, that covers the transfer box, is theirs as good as any or are there others worth investigating?

Thank you in advance.

I felt very much as you do about weight and avoided guards until.....

I damaged my 4L switch and lost it's use, I had to miss a few laning trips because of it. I fitted the JB bash plate and am pleased, it has already got a few dinks on it after only a couple of days out.

Worth it's weight...

I think if you were to buy just one bit of protection it would be the transfer box guard, got the jimny bits one all good few scrapes and dinks, but it's one of those things that you won't buy alot of so very hard to compare with others

Tapatalk won’t open messages for me today, will get at it later on the pc.

I would say about it that whilst it does give good protection, you do need to be very wary of long dry grass. It seems to collect it and hold close to the exhaust. I never had a problem, but was always conscious of it doing that. Mud was never an issue as that generally drains out of the holes.

I am already used to dry grass being a problem. But like you said the protection has a value beyond that.

Here is a picture of the JimnyBits one fitted.
It's very Easy to fit and is well made, it will offer protection to the transfer box and vulnerable wires. Can say if anything else is better, I have nothing to compare it with. The only down side is it hangs about 30mm below the chassis rails, that's 30mm less ground clearance, maybe others can improve on this.

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)
