A question to those with the new jimny.

How is the infotainment/GPS/radio system in the new jimny? Is it worth the extra money?

pros and cons ?

If that is the only thing on the SZ5 over and above the SZ4, then I would say it is not worth the extra £2,500. You could get a good one for £500 or less. However there are other additions to the SZ5 that go towards justifying the extra cost.
Alloys
Heated seats (I'll probably never use)
Climate control
Tinted windows
Cubby box in the boot
Heated mirrors
LED Headlights (excellent)
Not sure if I have got everything there?

As mentioned, not worth the upgrade on its own, but it's a decent unit. Well worth having if only for Android Auto - love having it read out incoming WhatsApp messages and being able to compose replies by voice.

I find the system to be pretty good. Love having apple car play for Waze/google maps/Siri etc.

I have been impressed with the Bluetooth which automatically shows the album covers when you are playing music from your phone. It also shows when you receive a text and will read it out if you press the speech button. It does that without using the USB port (not using android auto/apple car play). Not sure if the sz4 unit does that or not.

The sat nav is ok, I prefer the phone based options though. The inbuilt nav is Garmin based and I don’t really like the user interface. It will get you where you need to go and I use it if I can’t be bothered to plug my phone in.

The voice control is pretty useless if you try and say your destination and that’s not to do with pronunciation or accent as using Siri through the car recognises it perfectly.

The DAB radio works well but you only get 6 presets and another 6 in the DAB AST autostore (which you can save manually) it’s just a bit more effort than it needed to be switching between DAB and DAB AST when all you want to do is swipe the preset bar along.

Overall, difficult to say if it is worth the extra. I had no choice as I wanted an automatic. That said, I like all the extras on the SZ5 and as others have mentioned, the led headlights are superb and even the automatic high beam works really well.

I find that when driving along the infotainment package works just fine for me - have on occasion still gone looking for an old fashioned knob to control the volume, but the steering wheel buttons work well and tapping the +/- on the screen works for me. Heated mirrors are a boon on a cold morning and I rather like the design/anthracite colour of the alloy wheels (absolutely detest black wheel rims). Family members also like the privacy glass in the rear compartment which contrasts well with the Kinetic Yellow paint job. The visual display and user interface for the mapping system appears well thought out compared to other vehicles that I have driven - but a lot of this is fairly subjective and down the how an individual's brain works and their personal expectations.

Havnt got the car yet, but from the list of extra's you get with the SZ5, it is a no-brainer iMO.

The extra's arnt essential by any means, but broken down and looking at them via a list, it is good value to boot.

For me the whole unit is better than I expected and sound decent for the 2 speakers it has. My only compliant is I seem to lose DAB a bit now and then which suggests the aerial set up isn’t great. From the reviews of the unit which Suzuki use in other cars I was expecting to give it 6 out of 10 but in the real world for me it’s gets a solid 8.

Yep DAB reception is pretty poor for me too, but almost certainly the aerial rather than the head unit. I do wish it had a volume knob as well. Sounds pretty good in the front, but the lack of rear speakers is a bummer, they're next on my upgrade list.

I really want the LED headlight, so there i no choice i see.

In Denmark it is not possible to buy one with automatic gear :( Because of our stupid taxes on cars.

The Jimny will be launched in april here in Denmark, and i looking forward to buy one :)
