Hi which engine will be in a 2005 Grand vitara 3 dr 1.6 16v? Any good for a Jimny upgrade, how much work? Any other bits any good for Jimny upgrade?

It will be the m series, but it’s 50/50 if it’s vvt or not at that year. Would be good for a jimny tho, just got to match vvt to vvt when swapping engines.
The vvt ones have a bulge at the front of the engine which is the usual giveaway.

Brake calipers/hangars fit as well I believe, but you need the vented discs for a diesel jimny to go with them.

How about a 2001 gv1600? Would it be G16? Looking to put it in a 2002 soft top with G13bb cheers

Wouldnt know without having a look. Would suggest that the G series engines have a timing belt on the front of the engine and on the timing belt cover is embossed '16 valve'.

M series engines have a plastic cover on the top over the spark plugs and coil packs, and a timing chain instead.

The G series is much more complex to convert i believe, but having not done it i wouldnt know im afraid.
