Hi!

I have just bought a second hand 2013 Jimny with 44.000km with no mods at all.

It's my first 4wd and I have no previous experience 4wdriving so I'm a bit lost. I'm based in Australia and I'm planning a month off hitting easy trails and quite a lot of beach driving. I was wondering from your experience what you guys think: with standard tyres and without any additional lift, will my beauty be able to take me safely around easy tracks and sandy beaches?

What recovery gear you reckon I should have to start with?!

Thanks!

It should take you just about any place you want to go. If you don't plan to add weight through modifications such as steel bumpers, winch and such, I would recommend you keep it stock except for tires. There is plenty of discussion here about tires but as long as you don't exceed 215/75 15, you won't require any modification to the vehicle or gearing

I started out with nothing & still have most of it left

Yeah a set of AT's would be a good investment, shovel and some sort of waffle board just in case you get stuck in the sand especially if your on your own :)

Thank you guys!

I will definitely look at the AT tyres, makes it easier not having to modify anything to fit them.

I have tried to find the answer about what the average increase on petrol is fitting those kind of tyres but I can't. Any ideas?

I'm planning to tour around Australia at some point and the fuel consumption is something to be aware of!

Thanks!

Gosh that's a lot of miles - any idea how many?
If it is your first fourbie are you OK with selectable 4x4?

Get yourself on the Auzookers forum too as there's plenty of Jimny owners on there who will have knowledge of the trails you plan to go on.
