My old key fob broke so I got a new housing with blank key. Transferred the internals and got the key cut.
It will open the doors either on the buttons or the key and the car turns over but won't start?
It will still start on my spare manual key. Any ideas?

I started off high and worked my way down ever since :-)

The old key will have a radio type chip moulded into the plastic, That the ignition ring needs to read before it will let the car start. When you turn the ignition on with the new key, Does the engine and imobiliser light come on?, If no try starting it with the new key whilst holding the old key tight up against the ignition cowl. If it starts you will either have to dig the chip out of the plastic of the old key and put it in the new one. Or just tape or glue the old key to the inside of the ignition cowl. But this will make the car easier for Caravan Utilising Nomadic TypeS to steal it.

It's been fettled just a tad.

Moulded into it. Alternitively if you do not want to tape the old key to the igniton, cut the blade off it and leave it on the keyring next to the new key. The reader will still be fooled and not know the chip is not in the new key.

Sorted!! :) :) :)
I didn't realise it was separate from the electronics and yes it was the oblong shaped chip.
Simple solutions are always the best.
I had put the old broken fob housing in the bin but it was still near the top fortunately

I started off high and worked my way down ever since :-)

Gilburton: Thanks for posting the results. Too often we all forget to post a conclusion. Appreciate it.

I started out with nothing & still have most of it left
