This is thinking outside the box :) I might borrow this idea.

Thanks!

It can be done simpler... as Riccy said on the first page, you could use piano hinges on the edges of the boards...

I wanted mine substantial to take the weight of the dogs and any other heavy things I put on the folding-floor, so the big plates on top replicate the hinges underneath and brace the boards together as they are cantilevered off the box in the boot area, albeit some of the weight is borne onto the top of the folded rear seat backs, as in the sketch above...

Works a treat

I like that Jack, need something similar, but need to keep the rear seatbelts too... not sure my daughters would like being clipped in ;)

Some work on the Gold Jimny today too (as I've also been working on the blue one -

Some recent purchases! :) I'd ordered some manual free wheel hubs as I got a flashing 4x4 light in the recent snow we've had in Waleshire, so I didn't want to get stranded as I had in the blue one early in it's life! I had put a "Price Beat" into JimnyBits but they chose to ignore it as we've fallen out, so I bought them off "Raptor 4x4" on eBay as they were cheaper! I'd also got some super-bright LED headlight bulbs and a new switch for the dashboard, more on that further down... ;)

On to the hubs then, simple swap...

Soon on!

So onto the headlight bulbs...

Hmmm, bit of a size difference?! There's a little cooling fan on the back of the new ones...

Thought I'd better try them before assembling everything... Yup! Them's bright alright!

I cut around the fan housing in the rubber gaitor that fits around the back of the headlight..

Yup! them's is bright... have to go out and test them soon!

I did buy two sets of these, but not too sure about fitting them to the blue offroad Jimny? Not sure how long the little fans will last after being dunked in rivers, etc?...

Ah, that switch... as the two-wheel-drive-low switch had to come out...

I swapped it for a "winch power" one, so that that rocker switch has to be "on" before the one on the right will operate as an on / out switch, to stop the winch occidentally being knocked on...

Did you check the lights if the lines are correct? In my experience any other than standard bulbs make a shitty pattern in these reflectors

A day working on the Gold (Metallic Beige!) Jimny today...

A good few packages have arrived over the last few weeks, but then fixing the big blue offroad 'S200KYS' one got in the way for a bit... and I wouldn't have spent on the gold one if I knew how much the blue one wanted to get it all sorted :( Ah well...

First parcel then...

Solarplexius panels. a bit like fitting window tinting film, only a lot easier?...

Test fitting the rear window panel, before removing the protective film off it... I thought I'd start with the rear door as it would be the easiest? No, the side windows are much easier! ;)

Finished result B) A little bit fiddly, but a good result in the end, and a lot easier than trying to fit window film yourself, and a lot cheaper than getting a 'professional' to tint your windows for you ;)

The view out once fitted... a bit like limo' tints, you can't see in (much) but you can see out, through a slightly brown tinge..

Happy with them! B)

Next?...

Spotlight brackets from LRChallenge4x4 on eBay...

Hmmm, not the right angle for my '55' Jimny?... I guess models vary over the years?

Vice and a crowbar then?... ;)

That's better! :)

Bolted in place...

Test the bonnet closes? ;)

And add some matching (the back of the roofrack) LED spotlights

Yup, happy with them...

Continued...

Next some repeater guards from JB - nearside

Offside - under the snorkel :)

Next...

I wanted some nice black tubular sidebars... I prefered the ones on eBay from 'Samurai Serwis', Michal from Poland who I bought the lovely roofrack from, but when I contacted him he said he couldn't make me a special pair for a Jimny with a 2" bodylift. I considered buying his anyway, but noticed LRChallenge4x4 in the UK had a very similar pair but with a different design to the step on them, and they worked out a bit cheaper due to the free shipping, and they'd also get to me a lot quicker...

BUT, the 'problem' is / was all the sidebars I could find wouldn't fit a Jimny with a bodylift, so I knew I'd have to do some modifying...

First I checked a bodylift sleeve bolt would go through the slotted hole in the mountings (they're designed to have the bodytub mounting studs go through them and a nut go underneath...

"Mr. Angry" the angle grinder out...

And chop the bars off the mounts!

And then reattach them but up 2"... ;)

Lick of hammerite...

And then REALLY struggle to get them on! :( Trying to hold the bar up and get a sleeve bolt up the tubular mount through the slotted hole and the body rubber and over the bodytub mounting stud?! Plenty of swearing required ;)

Done though!...

And look okay! B)

Ahh, then time to do the same to the other side then? :(

Next...

A bit simpler! Faded Rhino badge...

Scraped off leaving a ghostly shadow!

And a new (ebay) one added :)

Ummm...

Whilst on eBay I also got some "GTI" lettering... a reference to the Jimny's pokeyness with the VVT engine and gearbox combined with the earlier transfer box and diffs which adjust the gearing for the 235/75/15 tyres but still let the Jimny perform like a "hot hatch" ;)

Next a K&N Filter was fitted...

This will be why some owners report better performance then?!

Running out of time by then, I was going to do an engine oil change / new oil filter and drain plug gasket (slight leak), but that will have to wait for my Wednesday day off in the week :)

Off for a drive for a wash and wax then... and then back to -

Park next to his big brother!

S200KYS has a 5" all suspension lift with 31"x10.5" Maxxis Trepador tyres, BT54VTS has a 2" trailmaster suspension lift and a 2" bodylift with 235/75/15s BF Goodrich All Terrains

So the gold ones current spec is -

2" trailmaster suspension lift with ZookBOB brake union bracket
2" Bits4Vits poly' bodylift / ZookBOB steering spacers
Set of five 235/75/15 BFG ATs on original alloys, including spare
Earlier Transfer Box and Diffs to adjust the gearing back to near stock
ZookBOB transfer box brackets
Folding rear floor for cash'n'carry runs, etc...
Leather seats front and rear
Solarplexius rear window tints
Samurai-Serwis roofrack with lightbar and rear spots
Snorkel / K&N Filter
Small winch hidden in the front bumper
Rear tow bar with recovery points
Tyrex Free Wheel Hubs
Daylight running lights
Front LED spots on LRC brackets
LRC sidebars modded for 2" bodylift

So, that's nearly it?!

Just an oil change / filter and new spark plugs...

And I think that's it done? My daily driver to compliment his big brother S200KYS the weekend greenlaner! ;)

I love that the little one "only" has 4 inch of lift, it would tower over Ermintrude!
